Community & Parent Involvement
What’s the most accurate predictor of academic achievement? It’s not socioeconomic status, nor how prestigious the school is that a child attends... the best predictor of student success is the extent to which families encourage learning at home and involve themselves in their child’s education.
When parents are engaged in their children’s school lives, students have the home support and knowledge they need to not only finish their projects but also develop a lifelong love of learning.
One of the advantages of being part of the DREAM family is the opportunity for parents to be actively involved in their student’s education.
So you may be asking yourself: "how can I be more involved with my child's school?" The answer is to show up! Show up for conferences, show up to volunteer, show up for activities. We are a small school and we count on our families to help support us by being involved and helping out with different activities. Some options include:\
VOLUNTEERING
There are a variety of opportunities to volunteer. On-going weekly choices, special events, or if you have a special talent or expertise, we’d love to have you share with students. See the Power Hour Survey below for more information.
ADVISOR INTERACTION
Please feel free to reach out to your child's advisor at any time for any reason. We welcome your input. Advisors will typically return calls or emails after the end of the school day, allowing more time directly with your student during school hours. However, if you have an urgent need, please feel free to contact the office at 320-262-5640 and we’ll take care of it.
STAYING CONNECTED
We want you to know what is happening at CHOICE, from important deadlines to fun projects. To stay in the know, please make sure we have your current contact info. If your contact info (including email, phone, and/or mailing address) changes, please notify the office ASAP so that we can remain in touch.
Volunteering
Do you have an interest in helping develop young minds? Do you have a passion you would like to share with others? Do you possess a specialized skill or knowledge set you would like to pass on to others? At DREAM Technical Academy we like to pair students with mentors from the community who can help them grow and help them complete their projects.
